Cornwell Pool & Patio
Dear Chris:
As we enter the final days of our Going-Out-of-Business Sale, I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for all the help and direction you have given me in closing my business after 65 successful years.
I am sure this is probably one of the most unusual projects Lynch Sales Company has ever been involved with because of the nature of our business. Cornwell Pool & Patio transitions into Cornwell Christmas World every November, so your firm had to not only help close my pool an patio business, but also my Christmas business.
The first phase of this Sale began last July when we attempted to close our pool and patio division. The Sale began July 1, 2014 and ended right after Labor Day last year. Even though the first phase of the Sale was a success, we were not able to sell all of the Pool & Patio inventory due to unexpected road construction that closed the road to our Ann Arbor store just before the sale started last year.
In December of last year, you did a G.O.B. for Cornwell Christmas World in Plymouth. That Sale began December 10th and ended in late January. It was also successful, but because of our huge inventory of Christmas trees, we still had some product left over.
Our sale coordinator, Jim Schwark recommended that we have one final Sale starting this spring to clear out the remaining inventory of both stores. The Plymouth store was a mix of patio furniture and Christmas merchandise. I did not think it was possible to sell Christmas merchandise in May, June and July. Thankfully I was wrong. We have been able to sell another 75 Christmas trees over the last 3 months, as well as Christmas trim and ornaments.
Jim was also very instrumental in placing the Right Ads in the Right Media at the Right Time to maximize floor traffic throughout the sale. He was also a great help to me in pricing the stock to maximize the return to Cornwell Pool & Patio. A Going-Out-of-Business Sale requires more work planning and executing than running normal patio season. Having no previous experience with a G.O.B. Sale, Jim was extremely helpful in preparing me for what was needed to get ready for this Sale, as well as changes that needed to be done during the Sale to make it the success that it was.
This was our 5th and final Lynch Sale. The total sales generated during my Going-Out-of-Business Sale is approaching $1.9 million dollars. I am now looking forward to a happy and prosperous retirement, thanks to Lynch Sales Co.
Even though Lynch specializes in furniture sale events, it was pretty obvious to me that you can do other types of retail stores successfully, too.
Thanks to Lynch and Jim Schwark for guidance and leadership over the years.
Sincerely,
Gerry Visel, President
